August 1, 2018

This summer, we are lucky enough to have three law school interns with us, Sarah Binstok, Amanda Glenz and Heather Hulkower. Hear more about their summer experiences and why they chose to join Tarter Krinsky & Drogin.

Sarah Binstok

Q: Why did you choose TKD?
A: I chose TKD because I wanted to work at a midsize firm and TKD does a little of everything, so I figured it would be a good place to work in different areas of the law.

Q: What is the best career advice you ever received?
A: Be nice and polite to everyone you meet because you never know who they may end up to be.

Q: What's something we would be surprised to learn about you?
A: I used to tap dance, all the way through college.

Q: What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
A: I like to try new restaurants and play tennis.

Amanda Glenz

Q: Why did you choose TKD?
A: I chose TKD because I had the chance to speak with one of the partners and realized the amazing opportunities the firm presented. I have been able to explore several different fields of law and experience life in the Big City.

Q: Tell us about your summer so far. What kinds of matters are you working on?
A: So far, I have been drafting immigration articles, research projects and the like.

Q: Why did you choose to become a lawyer?
A: I chose law because it combines many things I enjoy doing, such as researching, reading/writing and helping people. The law keeps you on your toes and constantly challenges you.

Q: What is the best career advice you ever received?
A: Know your limits but don't be afraid to expand your horizons. Always be willing to give something new a try, but don't sacrifice the quality of your work for quantity on your plate.

Q: What's something we would be surprised to learn about you?
A: I lived in Spain and England for a month each. I've also visited France and Germany.

Q: What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
A: I'm a big fan of CrossFit and I enjoy traveling, exploring new restaurants, cooking, listening to music and trying new things.

Heather Hulkower

Q: Why did you choose TKD?
A: I chose to join TKD because I wanted to work at a mid-sized firm in NYC. As someone who was not completely set on practicing one specific type of law, TKD provides a multitude of practice areas where I can experience many different fields.

Q: Tell us about your summer so far. What kinds of matters are you working on?
A: I have learned more than I have in a classroom in my short time here at the firm. I have worked on labor and employment, real estate and defamation issues. I have had the opportunity to look at many different types of contracts and to sit in on settlement/negotiation meetings. I even got the chance to work on research with the Italy practice.

Q: Why did you choose to become a lawyer?
A: I decided to become a lawyer during my junior year of college at Binghamton University. I took a human rights class and it opened my eyes to the world of law.

Q: What is the best career advice you ever received?
A: The best career advice I ever received was to network. I find so often, especially within the field of law, that anywhere I go I bump into a lawyer. I think that it is very important to talk to others who have more experience than I do and to learn based off what they have to say. Regardless of if you are an intern or a partner, it's all about connections!

Q: What's something we would be surprised to learn about you?
A: I used to play volleyball (and still love it). I even played some club volleyball throughout college.

Q: What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
A: I enjoy traveling, working out and going to the beach. I love being outdoors!
