David J. Pfeffer, a Partner in Tarter Krinsky & Drogin’s Construction Practice Group, was recently retained by the National Dance Institute (NDI) in connection with the design and construction agreements for its new headquarters in Harlem. NDI expects to occupy its new space in 2011.
NDI, a New York-based nonprofit founded by ballet star Jacques d’Amboise, works intensively for 30 weeks each year with 4,000 children in public schools throughout Manhattan, Brooklyn and the Bronx.
NDI was in the news recently when the Wall Street Journal spotlighted its cultural exchange program between the U.S. and China. In June, NDI sent three teaching artists and a 13-year-old American dancer to the Children’s Palace in Shanghai, an after-school arts program. Five of the Chinese children who studied dance with the NDI teachers then traveled to New York with three of their own teachers and an interpreter to attend NDI’s Irene Diamond Summer Institute.
