International and Retail Group Chair, and Italy practice Co-Chair Giuliano Iannaccone was featured in an Am Law Mid-Market Report article, "A Broad Path For Midsize Firms Making it Abroad.” The article focused on how some mid-size firms are serving their international client base.
The article noted that Tarter Krinsky & Drogin hired Giuliano to start its international practice in 2011 from the firm’s New York office. The initial focus was focused on an Italian client base, due to Giuliano’s Italian roots, language skills and legal training, but the practice has since expanded to include China as well. The article noted that the practice is a mix of inbound and outbound work, and the lawyers in these practices represent Italian and Chinese companies looking to do work and invest in the United States, and work with local counsel to assist those corporations in their own jurisdictions.
Giuliano noted that the firm's international work grew out of the language capabilities and cultural understanding that some of partners had with the foreign regions the firm serves, noting, "I think the understanding of the cultural differences between domestic clients and international clients is very important…"It's not just food or language, but the intangible aspect that defines what works and what doesn’t work in a business interaction with someone from a different culture."
