Tarter Krinsky & Drogin represented a nationwide staffing company in connection with an employee misclassification charge. Filed with the New York State Department of Labor, Unemployment Insurance Board and Workers' Compensation Board, the charge stemmed from an alleged misclassification of staffers as independent contractors. At the conclusion of several hearings and negotiations, the Department of Labor agreed to close its file without assessing any penalties or interest charges. Greg Skiff handled the matter with assistance from Senior Compliance Administrator Hagit Feder and attorneys Richard Steer and Tara Toevs Carolan.
