Managing Partner Alan Tarter was featured in ALM’s April 20 Mid-Market Report article on how mid-size firms are striking a balance between work and life. The article focused on how firm leaders of mid-size firms are ensuring that their lawyers can find work-life balance. Alan discussed how he personally makes his schedule work for him in order to be able to leave the office to have dinner with his family by getting up at 4:15am and working on his commute to and from the office each day. Alan noted in the article that, “he wants the lawyers he works with...to pursue whatever is important to them, knowing that the firm supports that pursuit.” Alan is noted as having the goal "to create an atmosphere where people can grow personally and professionally every day.”
As the Mid-Market Report article noted, "At Tarter Krinsky, every lawyer and staff member is given the opportunity — and the financial backing — to pursue a professional goal or learning objective each year. The firm has a business development program for participants ranging from first-years to senior partners, who meet to brainstorm leads, discuss tactics and outreach and report back on their progress. The program also covers cross-selling, client service and networking. It improves what attorneys can offer the firm while at the same time leading to a better work-life balance because of the collegiality it promotes.” Alan said, "As lawyers, we’re going to work a lot of hours. It’s just part of the business. But if you’re energized, you’re going to be more productive.”
