Tarter Krinsky & Drogin attorneys Richard L. Steer and Andrew S. Koerner recently spoke to staffing company owners and employees at the New York Staffing Association’s Industry Partner Resources Day.
Richard, a Partner in the firm’s Labor and Employment Practice, focused on classification of workers as employees or independent contractors, as well as on wage payment rules relating to overtime, minimum wage and other issues. He also summarized various exemptions to the Fair Labor Standards Act.
Andrew, Counsel in the Immigration Practice, gave helpful tips on how to fill out the I-9 form, used to verify an employee’s eligibility for employment, which is required under the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986. He emphasized the importance of keeping excellent records.
