Careers

A clear path for growth.

Meet Georgia Adelson

Senior Business Development and Marketing Coordinator

How would you describe working at TKD?

Tarter Krinsky & Drogin allows its employees – lawyers and professionals alike – to be their most authentic selves. Everyone has different talents, skills and interests, and the environment at Tarter Krinsky & Drogin embraces and cultivates those differences. The culture is very far from “one-size-fits-all.” The firm has created several initiatives surrounding this philosophy, including the GOAL Program, which encourages employees to go out and learn a new skill to benefit them professionally and personally, and our internal newsletter, which highlights employee’s successes within the office and out in the world.

What is the best career advice you ever received?

Surround yourself with people you can learn from and don’t be afraid to ask questions. No one just wakes up in a position of power – they got there with help and support from others. Ask for advice, speak your mind and absorb as much knowledge as you can.

Director of Business Development and Marketing

What do you love most about what you do?
I am always learning, growing and being challenged. It is very fulfilling to see how the work that I am personally doing is having an impact on differentiating this firm. Also, I am very lucky to work at a firm that not only allows me to pursue the professional pursuits that are meaningful to me but goes the extra step of promoting my successes, which provides me with a supportive professional environment that enables me to flourish.

What is the best career advice you’ve ever received?
Under promise and over deliver. Doing what you say you’re going to do (and doing it well) is the foundation of your professional brand. You will move ahead faster if your work is superb and your colleagues can always count on you. Also, embrace your distinct qualities. The best thing you can do to be successful is to be yourself and to find a work environment that encourages and supports you to be your unique self.

Why did you join Tarter Krinsky & Drogin?
I knew that I would be able to make a real positive impact in the firm’s marketing and business development efforts. After 15 years in the Big Law environment, I craved something different and entrepreneurial. I wanted to stay in law but I wanted something very different. After years at large law firms, I thought that a smaller firm might be a better professional home for me. I knew in my gut after interviewing here that I belonged here.

In addition, mid-size firms have a great opportunity to set the bar high in professional development because they have a greater ability to invest in all staff members in a more individualized way. For example, through our GOAL Program, every lawyer and staff member at Tarter Krinsky & Drogin is given the opportunity - and the financial backing - to accomplish a professional goal or learning objective each year that is tied to their professional role. Thanks to the GOAL program, I am learning how to speak and write Italian, which will greatly help me market one of the firm’s most important practice areas. This firm is truly invested in its employees and as a result, its employees, such as me, are very much invested in the firm.

Which of the firm's benefits have had the greatest impact on you and why?

Career growth. Having recently celebrated my 17th anniversary with the firm, I have enjoyed an ever-evolving and satisfying career supporting the firm. Each year, I have the opportunity to work on targeted projects with different practice groups throughout the firm, develop new operation initiatives and help others in the firm achieve their goals.

When the firm was founded, we envisioned a place where there was no ceiling on growth, regardless of one’s position at the firm. Our senior leaders encourage all employees who express an interest in assuming leadership roles to take on discrete, on-site projects that enhance their ability to lead teams, manage projects or events, or provide support to firm management. In addition to personal growth, each of our internal programs has been designed to facilitate greater interaction between employees.

There are ample opportunities for professional development and growth at a mid-size firm like Tarter Krinsky & Drogin. Many of our employees have come from outside the legal field (from accounting and professional services firms), and from small and other mid-size law firms. We also have a faction of team members who joined us from Big Law and have flourished in our smaller, entrepreneurial work environment that encourages and supports our people to be their best professional selves and to pursue what is important to them.

One example of this is Stefanie Marrone, our Director of Business Development and Marketing. Before joining Tarter Krinsky & Drogin more than two years ago, Stefanie worked at some of the most prominent (and large) law firms in the world. In joining us, she sought a work environment that was close-knit, innovative and unique. She says, "I'm so thankful to have found a firm that encourages and supports me to be me. My advice is to find a professional home that lets you be your unique self." Here is her story.

Here's why the other members of our administrative leadership team enjoy working at Tarter Krinsky & Drogin:

  • Director of Human Resources Lisette Clark says that she enjoys working at the firm for many reasons, including the diversity of the work, our entrepreneurial culture and fast-paced, high-energy environment and the fact that she is encouraged to think outside the box on a daily basis and contribute ideas.

  • Firm Administrator Tanya Duprey, who has been with the firm for 17+ years, giving her a unique perspective, says that she enjoys the diverse nature of her projects. "On any given day, my work can take me from overseeing a renovation design to high-level discussions on cybersecurity to collaborating on marketing initiatives. It's the perfect position for someone who needs constant challenges to thrive."

  • Chief Financial Officer Scott Ross enjoys the opportunity to use his brain everyday, and to mentor and help people grow. He describes working at the firm as "motivational" and says his favorite part about working here are the people.

  • Vice President of Finance Tedd Drattell echoes Scott's thoughts on the people being one of the main motivators for why he has been at the firm for so long, noting "The collaboration among the team is awesome. It's always great to work with people you like and from which you can learn."

  • Contoller Steve Monahan jokes that Tarter Krinsky & Drogin is the only firm that has "unlimited Fresca" and that he joined the firm after "interviews at companies A through S did not go well." In all seriousness, Steve says he's has been with the firm a long time because of the people and the fulfilling work.
